Agnes Marie Hamilton, age 88, a resident of Good Samaritan Home in Quincy, Illinois and formerly of Panama City, Florida, Bryan, Ohio and Brown County, Illinois passed away at 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 2, 2024 in the nursing home.
She was born September 24, 1935 in Brown County, Illinois the daughter of Henry and Eva May Chapman Agans. She married John A. Hamilton on November 9, 1955 in Mt. Sterling, Illinois and he preceded her in death on December 31, 2004.
Earlier in life, Marie worked in the Cafeteria at Irving Elementary School in Quincy, Illinois and then served as supervisor in the cafeteria at Quincy High School #1. She and her family then moved to Bryan, Ohio where she worked for the Aro Corporation as a key punch operator in the manufacturing engineering department until her retirement in 1995. After retirement she and her husband moved to Panama City, Florida.
Mrs. Hamilton graduated from Brown County High School with the class of 1954 and was of the methodist faith.
Marie's proudest accomplishments were raising two sons who are unselfish, caring and patriotic, and achieving her DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution) award while in high school.
Survivors include two sons, Mark K. Hamilton (Ginny) of Panama City, Florida and Christopher L. Hamilton (Christine) of Winter Haven, Florida. Two granddaughters Jaime and Kayla. 4 step granddaughters Kristy, Stephanie, Angie and Vanessa, numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. 1 sister Ruby Ragon of Bushnell also survives along with several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers Lloyd and Robert Agans.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 6, 2024 in the Hendricker Funeral Home in Mt. Sterling, Illinois with Pastor Charla Myers officiating.
Burial will follow in the Versailles West Side Cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour prior to services on Saturday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor’s choice.
